PRINCETON, NJ - Junior Paul Amess shot Sunday's lowest round, a three-under 68, and finished third overall to propel Temple to a sixth-place showing at the Princeton Invtational at Springdale Golf Club. Amess carded a 71-73-68=212 (-1), the fifth-lowest 54 hole score in program history and the best since he carded a 212 at the Treasure Coast Classic on March 6-8, 2007. He was only one stroke behind the individual champions, St. John's Keegan Bradley and Evan Berine.
Amess led the field with 14 birdies and was among the leaders in par three and par four scoring.
The Owls shot a three-round 290-296-292=878 (+26) and its round of 292 on Sunday was the lowest in the 15-team field. Temple was just nine strokes back of tournament winner St. John's (282-283-304=869, +17) and five strokes behind second place George Mason and host Princeton.
Sophomore Eric Plisko carded a 68-78-72=218 (+5) to tie for 17th, while freshman Andrew Mason recorded a 75-75-73=223 (+10) to tie for 27th in the 77-player field.
Redshirt freshman Sasha Bozic (76-73-80=229, +16) and freshman Joseph Kim (78-75-79=232, +19) to tie for 49th and 62nd, respectively.
Bradley (70-66-75=211) and Beirne (70-68-73=211) tied for the overall lead with two-under scores.
Temple returns to the links next weekend at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational.
