PHILADELPHIA- The Temple women's basketball team (13-10, 6-1 A-10) looks to continue its winning ways when it hosts the Charlotte 49ers (14-9, 5-2 A-10) on Wednesday at noon. The game will also celebrate the sixth annual Dawn Staley Day, where thousands of Philadelphia students are invited to the Liacouras Center for a day of learning and fun. The Owls are currently riding a six game winning streak after capturing their fourth straight Big Five title on Saturday. Series Record Temple continued to make history on Saturday winning its 18th consecutive Big Five game, a 60-55 victory over LaSalle. The Owls clinch their fourth straight city series crown, becoming the first team in Big Five history to win four straight titles outright. Shenita Landry posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead four players in double figures. Lady Comfort chipped in with 12 points and nine boards, while newcomer Shaqwedia Wallace scored a career-high 11 points. LaKeisha Eaddy had 10 points. Temple was nearly perfect from the free-throw line, making 12-of-13, and outrebounded the Explorers, 36-18, on its way to its sixth-straight victory. Both squads shot an impressive 56% from the field in the first half but struggled in the second stanza to finish with nearly identical shooting performances, 44% for the Owls and 47.7% for the Explorers. Landry added two blocks and two steals to her all-star performance, while Ashley Morris dished a team-high five assists and scored nine points. Morris leads Temple in scoring and assists, averaging 14 ppg and dishing 89 assists. Comfort is averaging 9.3 ppg and a team-high 8.0 rpg. Despite three players in double-figures led by Danielle Burgin's 15 points, Charlotte dropped a 71-60 contest at Saint Louis Saturday. Burgin scored 15 points with 11 of those points coming in the second half. Wendy Stywalt recorded her second straight double-figure scoring game with 12 points while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Sabrina Gregory tallied her 57th double-figure scoring game of the season with 12 point. Burgin leads two 49ers in double figures with 11.3 ppg, and a team-high 8.6 rpg. Gregory is second with 10.9 ppg and a team-high 94 assists. Burgin also leads the squad in blocks (34). OWLS+Kids=Winning Record
