PHILADELPHIA - After leading Temple to the Atlantic 10 women's lacrosse championship and the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004, senior midfielder Whitney Richards was voted the owlsports.com Athlete of the Month for April. Richards scored 22 goals and dished 15 assists to lead the Owls to a 7-2 record during the month. She also had 26 groundballs, 19 caused turnovers and 24 draw controls. She was voted the A-10 Player of the Week three times, as well as the womenslacrosse.com's Player of the Week. A First Team All-A-10 selection, Richards garnered Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament honors after setting new A-10 record for caused turnovers in a tournament game with 6 against Duquesne. The Southampton, N.J. native started off the month with a four goal, four assist performance against LaSalle. Richards and the rest of the Owls will be competing in the NCAA Tournament First Round on Sunday, May 11. The entire 16-team field will be announced tonight at 7 p.m. EST on CBS College Sports Television.
