Final Stats

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Senior Brianna Dairy hit her first home run of the season and junior Katie Burduaex allowed just four hits over seven innings as the Owls snapped a four game losing skid by defeating Wagner 5-3 in the second game of a double-header from Staten Island. The Owls dropped the first contest 7-2.

The bats finally came alive as the Cherry and White (9-12, 1-5) broke open a scoreless game in the fourth inning en route to the victory. Senior Natalie Wagner continues to lead the offense this season, as she blasted a two-run double to give the Owls a 2-0 lead. She would later score on a throwing error to give the Cherry and White a 3-0 lead after the top half of the fourth.

After the Seahawks (14-15) responded with two runs in the bottom frame to make it 3-2, Dairy blasted a two-run home run in the 5th to give the Owls a 5-2 lead.

The Seahawks would not go away quietly in the bottom of the seventh. They scored an unearned run with two away to cut the lead to 5-3, but Burdeuax was able to get Wagner's Victoria Batistelli to ground to end the game.

Burdeaux (4-3) went seven innings, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out five.

In the first game, Wagner roughed up freshman starting pitcher Amanda Branco for five runs in an inning of work, building a lead they would never relinquish for a 7-2 win. The Owls scattered eight hits for the game, but could manage to get two across the plate

Freshman Chelsea Reicher was the star at the plate for the Cherry and White, hitting a home run in third and a triple in the fifth to knock in the only two Temple runs of the game. She also added a single to finished 3-for-3 for the game.

Branco (1-3) took the loss in an inning of work and was relieved by Dairy, who went five innings while striking out two.

The Owls are back home tomorrow afternoon for a double-header with city rival Penn (18-10). The first game is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
