Senior Noelle McKenzie broke her own school record in the 1000m (2:59.53), while sophomore Brittney McRae and freshman Paris Williams met ECAC qualifying standards for the Temple women's track team at the Great Dane Classic on Friday at the New York City Armory. Williams was second in the 500m with a season-best time of 1:14.40, while McRae was second in the 55m hurdles (8.19).
McKenzie finished third in the 1000m, breaking her school record of 3:00.58 she set as a sophomore. She is now two seconds short of ECAC qualifying in the event.
Junior Amanda Cole won the weight throw (52-1 3/4), just an inch off her school record that she set last weekend. She was also tenth in the shot put (39-7 3/4).
The Owls also had a strong showing in the 400m as junior Carlleen Allison was sixth (58.35) and senior Cheryl Anscombe was seventh (58.45). Senior Shanice DePass placed sixth in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:19.37.
Junior Devon DuPont traveled to Bucknell for the Bison Open to compete in the pentathlon. She finished seventh with 2631 points.
Temple travels to the Delaware Invitational on Saturday.
