NEWARK, DE - Four individuals won their respective events and junior Amanda Cole met ECAC standards in breaking her own school record in the weight throw (52-11 1/2) to lead the Temple women's track team to a second place finish at the Delaware Invitational on Saturday. The Owls fell four points short of the host Blue Hens in the team standings.

Cole improved her school record by nine inches and will compete in the ECAC Championships in the weight throw. She was second in the event and fifth in the shot put (38-9 3/4).

The Cherry and White won the 400m, 500m, 800m, and 4x400 relay. Freshman Paris Williams, already an ECAC qualifier in the 500m, won the 400m in a personal-best time of 58.21.

Freshman Shadaya Bennett was victorious in the 500m (1:19.07), while senior Shanice DePass captured the 800m (2:21.34). The 4x400 relay won in a time of 3:54.71.

Other strong showings were turned in by sophomore Melissa Gale, who was fourth in the pole vault (10-11 3/4). Classmate Brittney McRae was second in the 60m hurdles (8.93) and eighth in the long jump (17-3 1/2). Junior Rose Drayton was third in the 60m dash (7.96) and the 200m (25.81).

The Owls will have their final tune-up for the Atlantic 10 Championship next weekend at the New Balance Games at the New York City Armory.
