Feb. 9, 2008 New Balance Invitational Results | Bucknell Winter Classic Results NEW YORK, NY - In its final tune-up before Saturday's Atlantic 10 Championship, the Temple women's track team split its squad this weekend, sending competitors to the New Balance Invitational at the New York City and the Bucknell Winter Classic. Freshman Paris Williams and the 4x400 relay stole the show at the Armory, while junior Devon DuPont won two events at Bucknell. Williams ran the A-10s fastest time this season in the 500m, finishing fourth in the event (1:13.83). Along with senior Cheryl Anscobme, freshman Shadaya Bennett and junior Carlleen Allison, she helped the 4x400 relay to a season-best time of 3:49.66 to finish third. Also at the New Balance Invitational, sophomore Melissa Gale was 11th in the pole vault with a season-best mark of 11-3 3/4. Bennett was 18th in the 500m (1:17.76) and Allison was 64th in the 400m (58.37). Senior Noelle McKenzie placed 31st in the 1000m (3:07.84) and sophomore Brittney McRae was 48th in the 60m hurdles (9.03). Dupont stole the show at Bucknell, winning the long jump (18-4 1/2) and 55m hurdles (8.35) to lead the Owls at the unscored event. Junior Amanda Cole was second in the weight throw (50-2 3/4) and classmate Kimberlyn Hill finished fifth in the triple jump (35-5 1/4), setting a new season-best.
Sophomore Rose Drayton had another busy afternoon, finishing second in the 55m (7.35) and the 200m (26.04). Senior Shanice DePass was fourth in the 1000m (3:03.38). Temple travels to Rhode Island on Saturday for the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track Championship. Senior Jessica Starace also had a strong showing in the weight throw (47-2 1/2) to place fourth. |
