Pros Update: Stewart in Futures Game, Borbon Heats Up

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Entering the second half of the 2016 season, Tennessee Baseball has 19 former players who have made appearances on professional baseball fields.

Last week, VFL Christin Stewart represented his Detroit Tigers organization in the 2016 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game held in San Diego, Calif. Entering the game as a defensive substitution in left field at Petco Park, he went 0-for-1 in his one plate appearance as the U.S. Futures team ultimately fell to the World Futures team in an 11-3 final.

Major Leagues

R.A. Dickey -- SP, Toronto Blue Jays | Video Highlights
Season: 7-9, 3.93 ERA, 19 G, 116.2 IP, 111 H, 60 R, 51 ER, 40 BB, 83 K
In his last start with the Blue Jays on July 10, Dickey threw 7.0 one-run innings against Detroit to help Toronto to a 6-1 win, marking his seventh victory of the season. He recorded five strikeouts while allowing just one hit over his 7.0 innings of work.

Yan Gomes -- C, Indians | Video Highlights
Season: .166, 68 G, 40 H, 21 R, 10 2B, 1 3B, 8 HR, 32 RBI
On July 8, Gomes went 0-for-4 but collected one RBI in Cleveland's 10-2 win over the New York Yankees at Progressive Field.

Chase Headley -- 3B, Yankees | Video Highlights
Season: .255, 80 G, 68 H, 33 R, 10 2B, 1 3B, 7 HR, 27 RBI, 4 SB
Headley played in five games this week (July 6-14), going 5-for-19 (.263) with two doubles and two RBI during that span.

Luke Hochevar -- RP, Kansas City Royals | Video Highlights
Season: 1-1, 3.18 ERA, 36 G, 34.0 IP, 26 H, 13 R, 12 ER, 9 BB, 39 K
Hochevar made two relief appearances with the Royals this week (July 5-14), combining for 2.0 scoreless innings against Toronto (July 6) and Seattle (July 9). He struck out four of his nine batters faced over his 2.0 innings.

MINOR LEAGUES

J.P. Arencibia -- C, Durham Bulls (AAA-International - Tampa Bay Rays)
LeHigh Valley IronPigs Season: .167, 12 G, 8 H, 2 2B, 1 HR, 3 R, 2 RBI
Durham Bulls: .222, 42 G, 35 H, 7 2B, 6 HR, 15 R, 17 RBI
Over his five games with Durham from July 6-14, Arencibia went 4-for-19 (.211) and knocked two home runs: one against Pawtucket on July 9 and one at Syracuse on July 14. He now owns seven homers and 19 RBI on the season.

Julio Borbon -- CF, Bowie Baysox (AA - Baltimore Orioles)
Season: .286, 80 G, 85 H, 45 R, 7 2B, 2 3B, 5 HR, 20 RBI, 18 SB
Borbon posted strong numbers over his last six games (July 6-14), going 13-for-25 (.520) and recording multiple hits in seven of his last 10 games for the Bowie Baysox. On July 10, Borbon hit his fifth home run of the year, a solo shot in the eighth inning against Reading.

Andy Cox -- P, Billings Mustangs (Rookie - Cincinnati Reds)
Season: 2-0, 6.00 ERA, 8 G, 9.0 IP, 11 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 6 BB, 7 K
Cox made one appearance in relief for Billings on July 9, tossing a scoreless 0.1 inning against the Helena Brewers in Montana.

Matt Duffy -- 3B, LF, Fresno Grizzlies (AAA - Houston Astros)
Season(MLB): .000, 3 G, 0 H, 0 R, 0 RBI
Fresno Grizzlies Season: .228, 73 G, 60 H, 35 R, 13 2B, 1 3B, 6 HR, 30 RBI, 1 SB
Duffy played in three games for Fresno from July 6-14, hitting .200 (2-for-10) with one run scored against Reno on July 9, a game started by Aces pither and fellow VFL Zack Godley.

Zack Godley -- SP, Arizona Diamondbacks
Arizona Diamondbacks: 2-0, 5.28 ERA, 6 G, 15.1 IP, 16 H, 9 R, 9 ER, 7 BB, 10 K
Mobile BayBears Season: 2-5, 3.83 ERA, 8 G, 49.1 IP, 48 H, 27 R, 21 ER, 11 BB, 31 K
Reno Aces Season: 2-1, 3.31 ERA, 7 G, 32.2 IP, 37 H, 16 R, 12 ER, 15 BB, 38 K
Godley made two starts for the Reno Aces last week (July 6-14). During that span, Godley threw a combined 8.2 innings and allowed three runs on 11 hits while also recording 11 strikeouts. He also did not allow a walk over his last two starts.

Vincent Jackson -- OF, State College Spikes (A-Short - St. Louis Cardinals)
Season: .235, 25 G, 24 H, 11 R, 4 2B, 3 3B, 14 RBI, 5 SB
Jackson appeared in eight games from July 6-14, playing every day over the last week with the State College Spikes. His best efforts came on July 9 (2-for-4) and July 10, when he went 1-for-5 with a three-run triple against Auburn.

Andrew Lee -- SP, Hagerstown Suns (A - Washington Nationals)
Season: 2-2, 3.71 ERA, 11 G, 51.0 IP, 45 H, 25 R, 21 ER, 18 BB, 46 K
Lee did not appear in any games this week while spending time on the Hagerstown Suns 7-day Disabled List.

Will Maddox -- 2B, West Michigan Whitecaps (A - Detroit Tigers)
Season: .344, 80 G, 111 H, 39 R, 16 2B, 3 3B, 1 HR, 34 RBI, 15 SB
Entering the weekend, Maddox owns a current six-game hit streak dating back to July 6. He has posted multiple hits in three of his last six games, including a 3-for-4, RBI performance on July 8 vs. Fort Wayne.

Khayyan Norfork -- 3B, Harrisburg Senators (AA - Washington Nationals)
Potomac Nationals Season: .252, 42 G, 34 H, 16 R, 5 2B, 16 RBI, 5 SB
Harrisburg Senators Season: .286, 4 G, 2 H, 1 R, 0 2B, 2 RBI, 0 SB
On July 8, Norfork was assigned to Washington's Double A Harrisburg Senators, where he played in four games last week. In his first four games with the Senators, he hit .286, including a two-RBI debut performance against Akron.

Zach Osborne -- SS, Hartford Yard Goats (AA - Colorado Rockies)
Season: .245, 59 G, 47 H, 21 R, 7 2B, 12 RBI, 1 SB
Osborne played in four games for the Goats from July 6-14. On July 8 vs. Portland, he knocked his seventh double of the season and helped Hartford Yard to a 4-2 win over the Sea Dogs.

Drake Owenby -- P, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (A - Milwaukee Brewers)
Season: 3-1, 2 SV, 2.67 ERA, 17 G, 67.1 IP, 64 H, 28 R, 20 ER, 21 BB, 65 K
Owenby made two appearances, including one start, last week (July 6-14) for Wisconsin. In his most-recent start on July 13, he threw 5.0 scoreless innings and allowed just six hits before being placed on the 7-day Disabled List on July 14.

Nick Senzel -- 3B, Dayton Dragons (A - Cincinnati Reds)
Dayton Dragons Season: .313, 12 G, 15 H, 10 R, 6 2B, 2 RBI, 7 SB
Billings Mustangs Season: .152, 10 G, 5 H, 3 R, 1 2B, 4 RBI, 3 SB
Senzel played in eight games from July 6-14, posting three multi-hit games during that span. Over his last 10 games with the Dragons, he owns a .308 average with seven stolen bases and is currently hitting .313 in the month of July.

A.J. Simcox -- SS, Lakeland Flying Tigers (A-Advanced - Detroit Tigers)
Season: .254, 82 G, 87 H, 45 R, 10 2B, 4 3B, 1 HR, 21 RBI, 6 SB
Simcox appeared in eight games from July 6-14, including a 2-for-5, RBI performance against the Palm Beach Cardinals on July 11. He also hit his first home run of the season on the July 8 series opener against Palm Beach. Over his last 10 games, Simcox is hitting .279 with four RBI.

Drew Steckenrider -- RP, Jacksonville Suns (AA - Miami Marlins)
Jupiter Hammerheads Season: 0-0, 1 SV, 0.00 ERA, 6 G, 10.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 17 K
Jacksonville Suns Season: 1-0, 4 SV, 1.69 ERA, 20 G, 26.2 IP, 12 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 10 BB, 35 K
After posting a 2.19 ERA over 10 relief appearances last month, Steckenrider was named Miami's Minor League Pitcher of the Month. Over two relief outings last week (July 6-14), the righthander hurled 3.2 scoreless frames and struck out five batters.

Christin Stewart -- OF, Lakeland Flying Tigers (A-Advanced - Detroit Tigers)
Season: .248, 83 G, 70 H, 47 R, 17 2B, 20 HR, 47 RBI, 2 SB
On July 10, Stewart represented Detroit in the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game at Petco Park in San Diego and entered the game as a defensive substituation in left field. For the Flying Tigers, the 2016 Florida State League All-Star is currently 6-for-28 (.214) over his last 10 games and hit his league-leading 20th home run on July 8 vs. Palm Beach.
