SETTING THE SCENE
The Red Raiders (21-25) are coming off a nine-day layoff as the university began final exams on Thursday, May 1 and wrapped up those exams on Tuesday. The Patriots are the lone remaining non-conference opponent on Tech's schedule as the two teams meet in Dallas on Wednesday and will then play a doubleheader in Lubbock on Tuesday, May 13. The Red Raiders have won the last three meetings against the Patriots including a pair of games last season. Tech's two wins over Dallas Baptist were by a combined margin of 36-7 as the Red Raiders drilled the Patriots 21-1 in the Midland College Classic (Feb. 16) and 15-6 at Dan Law Field on May 1. Dallas Baptist enters Wednesday's game with a 30-15 overall record after dropping a close weekend series at No. 5 Texas A&M. The Patriots snapped A&M's eight-game win streak on Thursday night with a 12-6 win but then dropped a 9-4 decision on Friday and suffered a 5-4 defeat on Sunday. The game at Dallas Baptist will be carried live on the Texas Tech Sports Network (KKAM 1340 in Lubbock) with Robert Giovannetti and Blayne Beal calling the action live from Patriot Field. Live audio will be available on the official website of Texas Tech Athletics, www.texastech.com.
