MONTGOMERY, Alabama - Texas Tech put forth a valiant effort today at the 2008 Blue-Gray Tennis Classic as they fell 4-0 in the finals at the hands of top-10 nationally ranked University of Tulsa. The No. 25 Red Raiders boost their season record to 15-2 as they next prepare to begin Big 12 action next weekend.

Tulsa moved in on the early advantage as they took the doubles point. Tech's No. 2 duo of Michael Breler and Sinisa Markovic were the first to drop, losing to the Golden Hurricane's No. 35 Arnau Brugues and Ricardo Soriano, 8-3. The No. 25 team of Andy Connelly and Ross Cunningham edged Tech's No. 2 duo of Christian Rojmar and Bojan Szumanski, 8-4.

In singles action, Tech couldn't stall Tulsa's momentum as they were topped in three straight singles positions. Senior Lenoir Ramos fell in straight sets to Viktor Kolik, followed by the junior stand-out Brugues from Tulsa taking a pair of straight sets wins from Tech senior Szumanski, 6-4, 6-1. Looking for his third win during the tournament, the Raiders' Rojmar faltered at No. 3 losing 7-5, 6-3 to the Golden Hurricanes' Alberto Sottocorno.

"Tulsa played extremely well, and they definitely are a top-10 team for a reason," said Head Coach Tim Siegel. "The turning point of the match was at No. 5 because I think if we could have got that first set, the match could have easily turned in our favor. Overall we had a good match and a tremendous run, and I couldn't be more proud of team for their effort this weekend."

The men's tennis team will next host Texas A&M on Easter Sunday at 1 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center for their Big 12 opener. For the complete draw, results, and more information of the 2008 Blue-Gray Classic, log on to www.bluegraytennis.com.
