Siegel Achieves 200th Career Victory

LUBBOCK, Texas - After a 5-2 win over Arkansas-Little Rock, Texas Tech narrowly missed No. 63 TCU today, 4-3, at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Head coach Tim Siegel claimed his 200th career win and the No. 31 Red Raiders advanced their season record to 6-1. The No. 10-ranked duo of Christian Rojmar and Bojan Szumanski added to their undefeated duals streak, going 2-0 on the weekend and 5-0 at No. 1. Tech's No. 11 pair of Michael Breler and Sinisa Markovic went 1-1 after dropping their first match of the season to TCU's Emanu Brighiu and Adrian Simon, 8-5. Siegel continued to mix and match players in the No. 3 spot, but was unable to find a winning combination resulting in Tech dropping the doubles point to TCU. No. 50 Szumanski went 2-0 at No. 1, defeating Rain Roigas (ULAR) and No. 27 Cosmin Cotet (TCU) in straight sets. In addition both Markovic and Breler notched in two straight set victories in the No. 2 and 6 singles positions, respectively. Breler is the only player to remain undefeated, sitting 6-0 in both the No. 5 and 6 singles spots for Tech. In his 16 years at the helm of the men's tennis program, Coach Siegel tabbed his 200th program win against Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday. Siegel currently holds a 200-177 career record at Tech, 228-190 overall. The Red Raiders continue play on the road as they travel to Las Cruces, N.M., to face New Mexico State and University of New Mexico beginning Feb. 23. #31 Texas Tech - 5 Singles:
