TEXAS TECH v. NMSU RESULTS Get Acrobat Reader

The Red Raiders found redemption this weekend in Las Cruces, N.M., going toe-to-toe against the No. 57 New Mexico Lobos and host New Mexico State Aggies. The men are off to an impressive 8-1 run as they next prepare their fourth consecutive weekend on the road.

Five Red Raiders went 2-0 in singles play on the weekend. No. 49 senior Bojan Szumanski defeated his fourth ranked opponent by upsetting the Lobo's No. 39 Max Jones in three sets, 7-6, 2-6, 10-5. Seniors Lenoir Ramos and No. 82 Ilya Babinciuc also tabbed two in the win column in the No. 3 and 4 positions, respectively. Sophomores Christian Rojmar and Michael Breler continued to dominate the bottom half of the line-up, as Breler pulled through untouched with his eighth consecutive victory.

In doubles Tech's No. 1 pair of Rojmar and Szumanski were handed their first loss of the spring as the Aggies' Roman Stoisavljevic and Eduardo Salas took the upset, 8-2. The Red Raiders' remaining duos went proved big for the team, as Breler and Sinisa Markovic held down No. 2. Promising results came from the No. 3 spot as combinations of Joe Hattrup and Ramos and Babinciuc and Milos Kustudija both found wins.

"I was really proud of my players this weekend," exclaimed Coach Tim Siegel. "Against the Lobos, all six players really played well. We could have easily lost four first sets, as we were down set points at No. 1, down 5-3 at No. 2, and at No. 3 also down 5-2. The guys didn't give up, fought hard and played well."

Next up the team will head down to Corpus Christi, Texas for the annual H.E.B Invitational beginning Feb. 29.
