HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Tulane University women's track and field team competed in their first outdoor meet of the 2008 season Saturday at the Southern Mississippi Invitational held at the Marshall Bell Track and Field Complex.

Senior Shanon Beelendorf won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.12, while freshman Zandria Debowles finished fifth with a time of 1:05.43. Junior Katarina Busljeta turned in a second place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.06m (154-04.75) and a third place finish in the discus with a mark of 40.83m (133-11.50).

Sophomore Valencia Wilson placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.98 seconds, sophomore Olivia Kizzee finished seventh in a time of 25.38 seconds and sophomore Arielle Minor ran a time of 26.86.

Freshman Aieshia Brooks finished sixth in the 400m, running 57.95, while junior Vanessa Kienast placed sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.74. Senior Aubrey Phillips placed fourth in the 1,500m with a time of 4:47.44, freshman Rebecca Coady finished seventh with a time of 4:54.48, freshman Laurie Dalrymple placed 10th by running 4:59.98, and freshman Caitlin Hornbeck ran 5:36.78.

Debowles placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m (5-03.00), while fellow freshman Peggy Keplinger landed seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 2.90m (9-06.00). Freshman Brree Carter finished 12th in the long jump with a jump of 4.95m (16-03.00), and sophomore Arielle Minor threw the javelin 25.85m meters (84-09.75) for 16th place.
