Ashley Langford named All-Louisiana

April 8, 2008

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane junior point guard Ashley Langford was named to the Women's Basketball All-Louisiana Second team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Tuesday. The 5-5 native of Harrisburg, Pa., led the Green Wave in both scoring and assists.

With 11.9 points per game, and 5.3 assists per game, Langford led Tulane in both categories and earned Third Team All-Conference USA honors. She became Tulane's all-time assist leader in just her junior season, requiring just 69 games to take over the top spot. She finished the season with 538 career assists (fourth all-time in C-USA history), and her 160 total assists on the season were the third-most in one season in school history, behind only her freshman and sophomore campaigns.

She ranked 26th in the NCAA in APG (5.33), and 25th in free throw percentage at .851, which was second in C-USA. Langford also owns a .851 career free throw mark (291-of-342), which is second in school history. Langford ranked 35th in the NCAA and second in C-USA in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.86.

It is the second All-Louisiana honor for Langford, who was named Second team in 2006.

The Green Wave finished the regular season 16-14, with three wins against in-state opponents against just one loss.
