Tulane to Hold Block Party this Friday at Fogelman Arena

Nov. 6, 2007

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane Athletics is celebrating the women's volleyball home finale and the men's basketball season opener by throwing a block party this Friday, Nov. 9, at 3:30 p.m. at Fogelman Arena. The block party is open to the public and will feature music, free food and beverages, $1 beer, and free giveaways.

The party will pause for the women's volleyball match at 5 p.m. against UTEP. Fans are encouraged to cheer the team as it attempts to record a perfect home record for the first time in history.

The volleyball team is 25-5 on the season (13-2 Conference USA) and has already set a record for conference wins in a season and clinched a bye in the conference tournament, which guarantees a finish of no lower than third place.

After the volleyball match, the outdoor festivities will resume until the men's basketball game against Southeastern Conference member Auburn at 8 p.m. The men's basketball team finished the 2006-07 season at fourth place in C-USA, winning eight of their last 11 games and recording its highest win total since the 1999-2000 campaign.

A block party will also precede the first women's basketball home game against Georgia Tech at Fogelman Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 13. A performance by the Huey P's, free food, beverages, and giveaways highlight the event for fans beginning at 5 p.m., with tip-off at 7 p.m. The defending C-USA champs will raise the conference regular season championship and WNIT banners at the opening home game.

Tickets for the volleyball match and basketball games are on sale now at the Tulane Athletics ticket office and can be purchased in person, online at www.tulanegreenwave.com, or by telephone at (504) 861-WAVE.
