NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane women's basketball team looks to run its record to 7-1 and make a national statement Sunday at 4 p.m. as the No. 7 LSU Tigers visit Fogelman Arena. Tulane seeks its six-straight win and second win this season against an SEC program. The Tigers (4-2 overall) have won five in a row against the Wave (6-1), and rank No. 7 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, and No. 8 in the AP Top 25. Tulane is receiving votes in the Coaches Poll. The Tulane women's basketball team is asking fans to bring and donate a new, unwrapped toy as part of this holiday season's Toys for Tots drive. The Green Wave seek the program's first win over a ranked team at home since a 69-50 victory over No. 19 (Coaches)/No. 20 (AP) Boston College on Dec. 29, 2002. Tulane is coming off its most lopsided win of the season, with a 28-point blowout at Louisiana-Lafayette Wednesday, 89-61. The LSU Tigers beat ULL by a score of 72-37 on November 21. In the last meeting between the two teams, Tulane and the No. 10 Tigers were tied at 31-31 with 14:37 remaining, before center Sylvia Fowles took over for LSU. The Tigers embarked on a 15-0 run and closed out a 59-39 win over the Wave. Tulane had become the sixth team to hold LSU under 60 points since the start of 2004-05, and the first unranked squad. While Fowles returns for LSU, Tulane added a post-presence this season in redshirt freshman Brittany Lindsey. Lindsey, who sat out last season with a medical redshirt, leads Tulane in scoring with 13.7 points per game, and is averaging 6.0 rebounds per game. The key for Tulane will be keeping the 6-2 forward out of foul trouble, as she has been hit with 25 personal fouls in seven games this season, reducing her playing time to 24.9 minutes per game. Tickets remain for the 29th meeting between the two teams. Tickets can be purchased at Fogelman Arena on game day, at 3 p.m. The game will feature live video at TulaneGreenWave.com via Green Wave All-Access, as well as free real-time statistics from Gametracker. Fans in the New Orleans area can hear the game on WRBH 88.3 fm. Tulane will hit the road following the LSU game, for a contest against Atlantic 10 foe Rhode Island on Wednesday, December 5 at 6 p.m. CT.
