Virginia Tech Advances to Championship Game of 2007 Tulane Doubletree Classic

NEW ORLEANS - The Virginia Tech women's basketball team defeated Texas-San Antonio 84-59 in the 2007 Tulane Doubletree Classic Thursday night at Fogelman Arena on the campus of Tulane University. Virginia Tech freshman guard Andrea Barbour led all scorers with 25 points, while junior guard Brittany Cook added 15, and sophomore guard Lindsay Biggs had eight points and four assists. Forwards junior Amber Hall and sophomore Utahya Drye led the Hokies in rebounds with 13 and 10, respectively. Texas-San Antonio freshman guard Whitney York led the Road Runners with 21 points and junior forward Onika Anderson added 11 points and led her team with six rebounds. Junior guard Monica Gibbs led the Road Runners with six assists.
With the win, Virginia Tech moves to 9-2 on the season, while Texas-San Antonio falls to 6-3. The Hokies faces Robert Morris in the championship game of the Doubletree Classic at approximately 7 p.m. Friday, following the Tulane vs. Texas-San Antonio contest which tips off at 5 p.m.
