LSU's Flynn To Opt Out Of Texas vs. The Nation Game
Jan. 29, 2008
EL PASO, Texas - LSU senior quarterback Matt Flynn opted not to play in this week's Texas vs. the Nation All-Star Challenge in order to continue preparing for the NFL Combine next month. Flynn, a Tyler, Texas native, injured his shoulder late in the regular season and then had it get hit again late in the BCS National Championship game. Iowa State senior quarterback Bret Meyer was named to the roster in his place. Additionally, Maine senior tight end Matthew Mulligan was a last minute addition at tight end to the Texas squad because of injury, and Syracuse senior defensive back Dowayne Davis was added to the Nation squad after Miami senior defensive back Glenn Sharpe was forced to miss the game due to a death in his family. The staff of the Texas vs. the Nation game wishes all players the best of luck this week and in their forthcoming careers, and sends our thoughts and prayers to Glenn Sharpe. Please remember that tickets for the Saturday, February 2nd contest, which starts at 3pm at the Sun Bowl are available at all ticketmaster locations as well as the UTEP box office. El Paso is aiming to break this season's all-star game record attendance of 40,646, so come out a support your local Texas boys as they confront Buddy Ryan's Nation squad on Saturday afternoon.
