ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington will kick-off the second half of the Southland Conference season Saturday on the road with a 2 p.m. matchup with Texas State at Strahan Coliseum. The Mavericks and Bobcats enter the matchup tied for first in the SLC West standings with identical 7-1 league marks.

Senior Maryann Abanobi continues to lead the Mavs on the season with 12.6 points a game, while junior Candice Champion has stepped up to lead the team with 12.4 points a game in Southland Conference action.

Scouting Texas State...
Texas State is 13-8 overall on the season and 7-1 in Southland Conference action. The Bobcats lone conference loss came against UTSA on Jan. 26. UTSA is also responsible for UTA's only SLC loss of the season. Senior Joyce Ekworomadu leads TXST on the season averaging 16.9 points a game. With 5.6 rebounds a game, Aimee Hilburn leads the Bobcats on the glass and adds 7.4 points a game as well.

Series History with the Bobcats...
This will be the 50th meeting between the Bobcats and Mavericks. Texas State has a 29-20 lead in the overall series and a 14-9 lead in games played in San Marcos. However, UTA has won the last six of seven meetings between these two teams, including an 81-60 victory to closeout the 2007 season.

The Coaches...
Samantha Morrow became the eighth head coach in UT Arlington women's basketball history in August. She has posted a 12-7 record in her first season coaching at the collegiate level after amassing a 413-77 (.843) record at the high school level. Suzanne Fox is in her 11th season at the helm of the Bobcat program with a 138-165 overall record at TXST. In 16 years as a college head coach she has posted a 255-198 career record.

The Mavs will be back at Texas Hall on Thursday as they play host to East division leader Lamar at 7 p.m.
