ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team dropped a pair of non-conference tennis matches over the weekend to drop its record to 3-7 on the season. The Mavs dropped the 5-2 decision on Friday when they hosted Marquette at the UTA Tennis Center, before heading to Houston where they fell 6-1 to 64th ranked Rice.

Freshman Daiana Negreanu won a point for the Mavs as the No. 3 single when Marquette's Rachael Hush retired down 6-3, 5-2. In the No. 1 single slot, sophomore Klara Jagosova scored UTA's second point, battling Erin Watkins to a three sets including a tie-breaker in the second set. Jagosova walked away with the win 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-7.

Against No. 64 Rice, freshman Monika Hadvigerova won UTA's only point of the match. As the No. 3 single, Hadvigerova turned back Tiffeny Lee in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

UTA will return to Southland Conference action when it hosts Sam Houston State on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
