The University of Texas Pan-American men's basketball team announced the signing of guard Jason Jensen (Milwaukee, WI/St. Francis High School) from Madison Area Technical College for the 2008-2009 campaign.
"Jason will be a great addition to our program because we're losing our perimeter players that have played extensive minutes," said head men's basketball coach Tom Schuberth. "Jason can really shoot the basketball and he's a tough competitor. We're very excited about having him. He's got size, strength and the ability to shoot the basketball."
The newly-inked Bronc will have three years of eligibility remaining after red-shirting this year due to a hand surgery four games into the season. Jensen averaged 19.8 points per game while shooting 43.5 percent from the floor and 42.4 percent (14-of-33) from behind the arc to go along with 6.5 rebounds per game in four games played.
The MATC guard led the Wolfpack in scoring and assists last season with 22.4 points, 2.4 steals and 2.7 assists per game. He was ranked third on the team with 6.0 rebounds per game and had a team-high 62 steals.
Jensen is the first MATC men's basketball player to sign a National Letter of Intent to a Division I program in school history.
During his prep career at St. Francis High School, the 6'4 guard earned all-conference, all-state and all-region accolades.
The newly-signed Bronc will be an added bonus to a team that graduates six seniors at the conclusion of the season. Jensen is the first player to join the Broncs in the 2008-09 academic campaign.
