The University of Texas-Pan American men and women's track and field program will be heading to Kingsville, Texas for the Javelina Invitational hosted by Texas A&M - Kingsville this Saturday (April 12).
The Javelina Invitational will be the biggest meet for TAMUK in recent years with the coming of athletes from the University of Texas, University of Texas-San Antonio and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
"This is going to be a small and low key meet but it will be a confidence booster for some. It will help bring out the competitiveness that the team holds," said head men and women's track and field coach.
With regionals being five weeks away, the itch for qualifying is on everyone's mind.
"Jameson (Strachan) and Vanessa (Brown) are in great shape and should qualify at any meet now; they are in shape to qualify," added Darling.
The Javelina Invitational will be an all-day event held at Javelina Stadium with running and field events beginning at 1:30 p.m
