Both the men's and women's tennis programs recorded victories this afternoon in Nacogdoches, TX with the Lady Broncs collecting wins over Centenary and Louisiana Tech and the men collecting a win over Centenary.
The Lady Broncs began the day with a match-up against Centenary College where they recorded a shut-out 7-0 victory.
In the top-flight of doubles' action, Giana Oliveira (Santa Anna, Brazil/ Eckerd College) and Julia Cirne-Lima (Porto Alegre, Brazil/ Eckerd College) handed Kayleigh Sullivan and Gretchen Ashley a 8-0 setback while Megan Bedeau (Scarborough, Ontario, Canada/ Northview Heights S.S.) and Silke Buksik (Waiblingen, Germany/ Salier-Gymnasium Waiblingen) earned an 8-0 decision over Courtney Myers and Kate Buchanan in the number-two spot.
In the number-three spot of the rotation, Luisa Cantu (Victoria, Tamps, Mexico/ Colegio Jose de Escandon) and Stephanie Willerding (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/ Northview Heights S.S.) collected an 8-1 victory over Lindsey Ezell and Jennifer Majchrowicz.
After collecting the doubles' point the Lady Broncs continued their winning ways as they handed the Ladies of Centenary a 6-0 setback in singles' action.
Oliveira led things off with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Myers in the number-one spot while teammate Cirne-Lima handed Ezell a 6-1 setback in the number-two spot of the rotation.
Bedeau keep things going as she recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win against Sullivan while Willerding collected a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Ashley in the number-four flight.
Buksik pick-up a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Majchrowicz in the number-five spot and Sarah Burton (Oakville, Ontario, Canada/Oakville Trafalgar H.S.) recorded a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the number-six flight.
The wins continued for the Lady Bronc as they earned their second victory of the day against Louisiana Tech and their fifth win of the season.
Oliveira and Cirne-Lima started doubles' action with a 8-4 win over tandem Mallory Smith and Rocio Juarez while Bedeau and Buksik handed Alexandra Gaspar and Ashley Wedderburn a 8-1 setback and Cantu and Burton earned a win by default.
Oliveira captured a dramatic 3-6, 6-3, and 10-4 super-tie breaker win over Juarez while Cirne-Lima collected a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Gasper in the number-two flight and Bedeau recorded a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Wedderburn in the number-three spot of the rotation.
Buksik earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Makowska in the number-four spot while Cantu collected a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Smith and Burton captured a win by default to shut-out the Ladies.
In men's tennis action, the Broncs earned a dominating 7-0 win over Centenary, improving their overall record to 2-2.
Brett Bernstein (Sugarland, TX/Austin H.S.) and Ashwin Vijayaragan (Andhrapradesh, India/ Kenedy Vidya Bhavan H.S.) led things off for the Broncs in doubles' action collecting a 8-1 victory over Mark Rodgman and Jacob Dawson in the top-flight.
Ivan Avila (Mexico City, Mexico/Texas Southern) and Andrew Irving (Hamilton, New Zeland/St. John's College) handed Alehandro Ahuja and Gerardo Lozano a 8-1 setback while Marcus Dornauf (East Launceston, Tasmania, Australia /Scotch Oakburn College Prep) and Nirvick Mohinta (Calcutta, West Bengal, India / University of New Orleans ) captured a 8-2 win against Oscar Medellin and Seva Kostelanetz in the number-three spot.
Avila posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Rodgman in the number-one spot while Vijayaragan handed Ahuja a 6-0, 6-1 setback and Irving collected a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Medellin in the number-three flight.
In the number-four spot of the rotation, Mohinta recorded a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Gerardo Lozano while Bernstein collected a 6-0, 6-1 win against Kostel in the number-five spot and Dornauf posted a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Dawson to close out the match.
The Broncs will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Prairie View A&M in Prairie View, TX.
