Men's and Women's Tennis Heads to Arkansas

Feb. 7, 2008

After a successful weekend of tennis action, the Broncs and Lady Broncs will look to repeat the same effort this upcoming weekend in Arkansas.

UTPA will match-up against Tennessee Tech on Saturday (Feb.9) followed by a face-off over Arkansas-Little Rock in Little Rock, AR on Sunday (Feb.10) at 9 a.m.

The men are coming off a 7-0 victory over Centenary College (Feb.2) and a 6-0 win over Prairie View A&M (Feb.3).

The Lady Broncs also got off to a good start, recording two wins this past weekend and improved their overall record to 5-1.

The green and orange collected two 7-0 shut-out victories over Centenary College and Louisiana Tech.

The Lady Broncs will face Central Arkansas on Friday (Feb.8) followed by two matches on Saturday against Tennessee Tech and Arkansas-Little Rock starting at 10 a.m.

Scouting the Opponent - Women
Central Arkansas
The Sugar Bears have dropped its last three games and will look to capture its first win over the Lady Broncs on Friday.

Tennessee Tech
The Golden Eagles have dropped their last three matches and are coming off a 4-3 setback over Mercer.

Scouting the Opponent - Men
Tennessee Tech
The Golden Eagles will be one of the toughest opponents this season for the Broncs as they are off to a 3-0 start and are ranked No. 68 in the most recent ITA National Rankings. Their current ranking is the highest for the tennis team in school history.

Arkansas-Little Rock
UALR Trojans men's tennis team will face their third nationally-ranked opponent this season when #68 Tennessee Tech. The Trojans have already faced two-nationally-ranked opponents in the early-going of the spring season, dropping a 6-1 decision to then 23rd-ranked Tulsa, and losing 7-0 to national power Ole Miss.
