Athletic Building Naming Ceremony to Take Place Before Baseball on Wednesday
April 8, 2008 SAN MARCOS - The Darren B. Casey Athletic Administration Complex will officially be christened at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, before the Texas State baseball team takes on Houston at 6:30 p.m. Texas State President Dr. Denise M. Trauth will help dedicate the building in honor of Casey, who pledged the single largest donation in Texas State athletics history in March. The complex, which opened in 2002, houses the department's athletics director office, along with all of the administrative offices from facilities, marketing, compliance, business operations, tickets, sports information and the Bobcat Club. Casey, an alumnus from San Antonio, made a $1.3 million donation to Texas State University, $1 million of which will support the Department of Athletics. His contribution will be used to begin Phase 1 of the new Baseball/Softball Complex. Casey, a 1981 Business Administration graduate, is the president of Darren Casey Interests, Inc. and Baxter Southwest Corporate Real Estate. After the official building dedication, there will be a reception in the Maroon and Gold Room until the baseball game against the Cougars, where Casey will throw out the first pitch of the game. |
