SAN MARCOS - Fresh off their second Southland Conference victory, the Texas State Bobcats hope the tide will carry over Thursday night as the `Cats play host to last year's SLC champion Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Bobcats are now at an even 2-2 SLC record after the victory over Nicholls State Saturday. Texas State's nine wins have matched last season's entire win total. The team remains at the forefront of the league in scoring offense and offensive rebounding tallying 85.9 average points per outing and helping themselves to over ten steals a night.

Brandon Bush ranks fifth in the Southland Conference and heads Texas State's offense with 15.4 average points. Bush finished with a 15-point second half against Southeastern Louisiana, 19 for the night, and just one board shy of recording his fifth double-double of the season. He fronts the rebound column for Texas State as well with 7.4.

Brent Benson has recorded 213 points in bench scoring, averaging 12.5 points an outing in his first season with the Bobcats. Benson is seated sixth in the SLC, averaging 2.41 three-pointers on the court. Benson is shooting .404 from the field and .737 (42-57) from the free throw line.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's 93-84 win over Central Arkansas broke a four-game losing trend that began Jan. 2 at Auburn. William Bullard led the Islanders with 18 points and three others finished in double figures in the team's first Southland victory of the season.

Chris Daniels fronts TAMU-CC's offense with 12.8 points per game and averages 6.3 rebounds. Justin Reynolds, who has joined Daniels in every start this season, tops the rebounding column with 7.8. The freshman leads the Southland Conference with a 3.88 average offensive rebounds a night.

As a team, the Islanders post a 4-12 season record, taking wins from Oral Roberts, Detroit, and Eastern Michigan, along with their lone SLC success. TAMU-CC has yet to win on the road this season. The squad is shooting .395 from the field and .670 from the line.

The all-time series record between the division opponent is tied at two game apiece. Texas State's last victory came in 2000, where the Bobcats took a 79-74 win in Corpus Christi.

The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Strahan Coliseum and can be followed on 89.9 FM-KTSW or online at www.txstatebobcat.com.
