Texas State Signees Awarded Post-Season Honors
Texas State Bobcat basketball signees Roshun Jackson, Tre Nichols and John Bowman have all been awarded post-season honors to conclude their respective senior seasons. Jackson and Nichols were named First-Team All-State selections by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and will participate in the All-Star game May 3 at Trinity University. Jackson, a 6-6 wing, polished off his career at San Antonio Madison High School averaging 19.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and a team-best 3.8 steals per game. He also shot 51 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range. He helped lead Madison HS to consecutive Regional Championships and the state semi-finals his junior and senior season. In addition to being named to the All-State team, Jackson was named to the All District 26-5A team, San Antonio Express-News Super Team and was a TABC All-Region selection. More recently, he has been nominated for the McDonalds High School All-American team. Nichols, a 5-11 point guard, rounded out his senior season at Killeen High School as a member of the 10-0 District 16-4A championship squad. The Kangaroos lost out to the eventual 4A State Champion South Oak Cliff in the playoffs. Nichols averaged 19.5 points and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 76 percent from the free throw line. His list of post season honors include being named the Most Valuable Player of the Fort Worth Coca-Cola Tournament, First-Team Super Centex selection and TABC All-Region performer. In addition to Jackson and Nichols' accolades, another Texas State signee, John Bowman,a 6-4 wing, was named the Offensive Player of the Year in District 12-5A after averaging 18 points and 3 rebounds at Mesquite Horn High School. He helped Mesquite Horn finish the 2007-08 season with a 26-9 overall record.
