Post-Game Quotes

Southeastern Louisiana Head Coach Jay Lucas
"We (did good) to come out and score 31, but it just wasn't enough tonight. (Texas State) just came out and mashed us tonight. We just don't have enough body weight and defensive line strength to stop (their offense)."

Texas State Head Coach Brad Wright
Opening Statement:
"It all starts off with the way we have practiced the last three weeks, and it has carried over into the games. I am a firm believer in practicing well to play well. I'll give our guys credit they have come out everyday and practiced hard, and it shows up on the field on Saturday evenings. We challenged them at halftime to see who wanted it the most. I wish we would have wanted it a little sooner, but they wanted it and came and got it. It was a lot of fun to see them do that."

On second half defense:
"It's been three weeks that we've been running what we're doing, and we are getting better at it. They are a very good offensive football team with [Jay] Lucas and their other back [Mario Gilbert]. They do a great job with their quarterback and all those receivers left over from their air-raid days. We knew they were going to be good on offense. We challenged our defense to hang in there and they came out in the second half only giving up field goals while we were getting touchdowns."

"We're a better football team now than we were three weeks ago, there's no doubt about it."

Junior place kicker Andrew Ireland
On his 52-yard field goal
"Coach came to me and told me the distance and asked if he thought I could hit it. I said `Yes sir.' It was a good snap and hold. I noticed that they didn't rush because you usually hear pads hitting when they are coming and I didn't hear that at all. I think they were looking for a fake, but I just got it in there."

Stan Zwinggi
"It feels good to be back finally. I was able to take some weight off of Karrington's shoulders. But it just feels good to be back and get some points on the board."
