FRISCO - Bobcat junior guard Ashley Cole was voted the Southland Conference women's basketball player of the week, league offices announced Monday.

Cole came off the bench in both of Texas State's games this week, posting game highs in points both times out. She set a season-high in points (24) and minutes (31) against SFA, only to break her high point total with 28 points in just 23 minutes at Sam Houston State. Cole also shot over 60% on the week and missed only one of her 11 free throw attempts.

The award marks the first for Cole and third for a Bobcat player this season. Senior guard Joyce Ekworomadu has won Player of the Week honors twice so far in 2007-08.

Texas State concludes its regular season on Saturday, March 8, at Texas-Arlington.
