Texas State Women's Golf Team Stands In Eighth Place Through First Two Rounds Of Islander Classic

Corpus Christi, Texas - The Texas State women's golf team stands in eighth place through the first two rounds of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Spring Classic after the Bobcats combined for a team score of 639 at the Corpus Christi Country Club in Corpus Christi, Texas on Monday, February 25. Caitlin Bliss stands in third place after she fired a 2-over-par score of 74 in the first round and shot 7-over in the second round. She enters Tuesday's final round four shot in back of Channing Norton of Lamar, who finished the first two rounds with a 3-over-par score of 147. Jennifer Herrmann of McNeese State is in second place with a 5-over-par 149 score. Bliss in one shot ahead of Halli Jo Richards of North Texas and Jessica Gibson of Oral Roberts. Lamar is the top team entering the final round after the Cardinals combined for a team score of 616. They are seven shots in front of McNeese State and 10 shots ahead of Oral Roberts. Texas State stands two shots back of Toledo for seventh place heading into the final round, and three shots behind North Texas. The Bobcats are six shots in back of the host school Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and trail UTSA by eight shots. In addition to Bliss' third-place showing, Trine Mortensen finished the first two rounds with a score of 160, while Christine Brijalba had a score of 163, Sehee Kim finished the first two rounds at 165 and Adin Stromgren had a score of 170 through two rounds. The final round begins at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
