Texas State Women's Golf Team Finishes In 18th Place At The Pinehurst Challenge

Pinehurst, N.C. - The Texas State women's golf team fired a team score of 320 in the third and final round on the par-72, 5,968-yard Pinehurst #8 course to finish in 18th place at the Pinehurst Challenge Golf Tournament on Tuesday. The Bobcats finished the tournament with a three-day team total of 959. The Bobcats were led by Sehee Kim, who finished the tournament tied for 37th in the individual standing. With a three-day total of 236, Sehee fired a 7-over par 79 in the third round of the tournament. Linn Gustafsson also fired a 7-over par 79 in the third round and finished the tournament tied for 49th place with a three-day score of 238. Playing in her first tournament this spring, Gustafsson shot a 5-over par 77 in the second round after opening the tournament with an 82. Trine Mortensen shot an 83 in the third round to finish with a three-day score of 243. Caitlin Bliss shot an 8-overpar score of 80 in the third round and finished with a three-day total of 245. Adin Stromgren shot an 82 in the final round and she finished with a three-day score of 253. East Carolina won the team championship after the Pirates set a tournament record for the lowest 54-hole team score of 910. East Tennessee finished in second place with a team score of 920 and Augusta State finished in third place with a team score 924. The individual winner was Steffi Kirchmayr from the College of Charleston after she and Maryland's Kelly Caulkin set a tournament record for the lowest score in a single round with a 3-under-par 69 in the third round. Kirchmayr finished the tournament with a three-round score of 217 on her home course.
Emelie Lind of East Carolina finished in second place with a three-day total of 221 after she fired an even-par 72 in the third round. Texas State will continue its road trip on the East Coast when the Bobcats travel to Gainesville, Fla., and play in the Gainesville Shootout on Thursday, March 13-Sunday, March 16. |
