San Marcos - The Texas State University women's golf team will travel to Pinehurst, N.C. and compete in the 2008 Pinehurst Challenge Mar. 9-11. The 54-hole tournament will be held on the par 72, 5,968-yard Pinehurst #8 golf course. The first round of the tournament begins with a shotgun start on Sunday, Mar. 9, with the second round being held on Monday, Mar. 10 and the third round on Tuesday, Mar. 11.

The Bobcats will be competing in a 22-team field which includes Augusta State, Boise State, Bucknell, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, James Madison, Marshall, Maryland, Memphis, Oregon State, Penn State, South Florida, Stetson, UNC Greensboro and Western Carolina.

Texas State will be playing in its sixth tournament this season after the Bobcats won one tournament and finished among the top five teams in two others. The Bobcats opened their spring schedule with a 10th-place finish at the Islander Spring Classic in Corpus Christi while playing with out its top player Linn Gustafsson, who sat out the tournament with an ankle injury. Texas State's top player in the Islander Classic was Caitlin Bliss, who finished with the third-best individual score.
