HOUSTON - A pair of home runs coupled with a one-hitter thrown by Angel Shamblin handed the Texas State softball team a 4-0 loss to No. 16 Houston on Sunday to close out the Marriott Houston Classic.

The loss dropsthe Bobcats to 6-9 on the season while the Cougars stayed unbeaten at 14-0.

Laurie Wagner connected for a solo home run with one out in the second for the game's first run off Bobcat starter Ragan Blake.

Shamblin held the Bobcat bats in check all game, allowing only one hitlow that came in the fifth from Alex Newton. Newton was erased on a fielder's choice before Jetta Weinheimer hit into a double play to end any chance to tie the game.

The Cougars added three runs with two outs in the seventh when Elaina Nordstrom hit a three-run homer to left center off Blake after a pair of singles.

Blake (1-6) allowed four earned runs in 6.1 innings.

Texas State now returns home to open Southland Conference play with a series against Texas-Arlington.
