Alisha Misiata Breaks School Record in Shot Put at StanfordApril 5, 2008
STANFORD, Calif. --- UC Irvine sophomore Alisha Misiata broke her own school record in the shot put with a mark of 50-7 ¼ as she finished second at the Stanford University Invitational Saturday. Misiata passed her previous mark of 50-6 set two weeks ago at the Collegiate Classic. Hawaii's Meghan Weaver won Saturday's event at Stanford with a mark of 51-7. Senior Orlisha Henlon won her section of the 400 meters in 56.47, which was seventh overall of 38 runners. Sophomore George Hernandez was third in his section of the 400 in 48.89, which was 12th of 42 runners overall. Junior Samantha Costantini won her section of the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:35.31, which was 22nd of 69 runners overall. Junior Bryan Lopez placed 10th in his section of the 1,500 meters with a career-best time of 3:57.38. Junior Justin Carter finished ninth in his section of the triple jump with a mark of 44-3 ¼. Junior Kendall Bruton was 17th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:54.81 as she improved on her third-best time in UCI history.
