UC Irvine Decathletes Performing Well at California InvitationalApril 16, 2008
AZUSA, Calif. --- UC Irvine's Trent Richert and Kyle Peterson are in seventh and ninth places, respectively, after the first day of competition in the California Invitational Decathlon at Azusa Pacific University. Richert scored 3,484 points in Wednesday's five events while Peterson totaled 3,406. Nicholas Garza, competing unattached, leads the 26-competitor field with 3,905 points. Richert's marks were 11.53 in the 100 meters, 22-1 ¾ in the long jump, 40-10 ½ in the shot put, 5-10 in the high jump and 51.67 in the 400 meters. Peterson had marks of 11.30 in the 100 meters, 20-7 ¾ in the long jump, 36-10 ½ in the shot put, 6-2 ¾ in the high jump and 52.87 in the 400 meters. The event concludes Thursday.
