IRVINE, Calif. --- Senior center Darren Fells had 14 points and nine rebounds Saturday night to lead UC Irvine past Idaho, 69-55, in a non-conference game at the Bren Center as part of O'Reilly/ESPNU BracketBusters Weekend.

Fells added five assists, three blocks and three steals as the Anteaters improved to 12-14 on the season. UCI is 8-0 in the Bren Center this season and 9-0 in on-campus games.

Seniors Marcus McIntosh and Patrick Sanders added 13 points each. McIntosh was 6 of 10 from the field and added four rebounds and two steals. Sophomore guard Michael Hunter had nine points while junior forward Kevin Bland recorded six points and seven boards before fouling out.

Michael Crowell led Idaho (6-19) with 21 points, hitting 5 of 10 threes. Jordan Brooks added 11 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.

The Anteaters took a 28-20 halftime lead as freshman guard Patrick Rembert banked in a floating three at the buzzer.

The Vandals pulled to within seven points on several occasions in the second half, the last coming at 46-39 on a pair of free throws by Crowell with 7:44 left. UCI then went on an 11-0 run to go up 57-39 on a layup by Fells with 4:18 remaining.

The Anteaters shot 54.5 percent from the field in the second half and 46.9 percent for the game. Idaho, which left the Big West Conference for the WAC following the 2004-05 season, shot 38.8 percent for the game and committed 21 turnovers.

The Anteaters play their final four Big West Conference games at home beginning Thursday night against Long Beach State at 7:35.
