Anteaters Finish Sixth At Western Regional Preview

Henderson finishes sixth to lead UCI

Lincoln, Calif. -- UC Irvine finished sixth out of 19 teams at the Western Regional Preview held at the Lincoln Hills Country Club, the site of the 2008 NCAA West Regional.

The Anteaters finished with a three round total of 906 (299-299-308). 12th-ranked denver won the tournament with score of 876. Oregon was second (900), Fresno State was third (904) and UC Davis and UNLV tied for fourth with a 905.

Senior Selaneé Henderson led UCI with a sixth place finish, her third top 10 performace of the year. She shot a tournament low two-under 70 on the final round and ended with a 54-hole total of 220. Sophomores Mariko Makabe (78-75-79) and Henna Cho (74-81-77) and freshman Hillary Packard (73-75-84) all shot a 232 and tied for 40th. Sophomore Patty Chawlitmetha placed 47th with a two-day total of 233 (78-73-82).
