Anteaters Participate in Spartan Invitational

Henderson defends her 2007 individual title

ANTEATERS TRAVELS TO SPARTAN   INVITATIONAL: UC Irvine will travel to the Spartan Invitational Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 3-4) at the Almaden Country Club, San Jose, Calif.

Participating teams include California, Gonzaga, Oregon State, Hawaii, San Francisco, Colorado, Idaho, Colorado State, Long Beach State, Santa Clara, North Carolina, Washington, Fresno State and host San Jose State.

 

Selaneé Henderson earned medalist honors last year with a score of 210.

 

The teams will play 36 holes Monday and finish with 18 holes Tuesday.

UCI FINISHES FIFTH AT FRESNO INVITATIONAL: UCI finished fifth at the 16-team Kitahara Fresno State Invitational. The Anteaters shot a 36-hole total of 603.

Tulsa won the team title with a score of 590 (299-291). Fresno State's Taylor Siebert won medalist honors with a score of 144 (73-71).

 

Sophomore Patty Chawalitmetha shot a 73 on the final 18 to move into 13th place to lead the Anteaters with a score of 149 (76-73) over 36 holes. Senior Selaneé Henderson was 20th after carding a 150 (73-77), while Hillary Packard was 29th with a 151 total (77-74). Senior Kim Lorenzana was 34th with a score of 153 (78-75) and sophomore Henna Cho was 76th with a two-day total of 164 (84-89).
