IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 35 UC Irvine women's tennis team (6-4) defeated San Francisco 5-2 Friday afternoon in non-conference play at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The Anteaters swept the three doubles matches to clinch the doubles point. Junior Ali Borowicz and freshman Brooke Bartlett defeated Jenny Sperry and Sarah Oudomvilay 8-5 in the No. 5 match. Senior Inna Agababian and junior Clare Fermin beat Jennifer-Lee Heinser and Emma Taylor 8-5 in the No. 1 match to clinch the doubles point. Senior Jessica Broadfoot and junior Heidi Kaloi concluded doubles with a 8-6 win over Mylene Martin and Jessy Mekpoh in the No. 2 match.

In singles, Emma Taylor retired as she trailed Jessica Broadfoot 6-3, 2-0 in the second set to give UCI a 2-0 lead. Ali Borowicz gave UCI a 3-0 lead as she beat Sarah Oudomvilay 6-3, 6-1 in No. 5 singles. Brooke Bartlett defeated Jenny Sperry 6-3, 6-2 to clinch the UCI victory for the third time this week. Heidi Kaloi put the `Eaters up 5-0 with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jessy Mekpoh in No. 6 singles. Jennifer-Lee Heinser beat Inna Agababian 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 1 match. Mylene Martin closed out the match as she beat Clare Fermin 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 2 slot.

The Anteaters return to action Sunday as they host Saint Mary's at 11:00 a.m. at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
