IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 66 UC Irvine women's tennis team (8-6, 3-1) defeated Cal State Fullerton 7-0 Thursday in Big West Conference play at Titan Courts.

The Anteaters won all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles. Senior Becky Bernhard and junior Clare Fermin beat Shelly Injejikian and Karina Akhmedova 8-4 in the No. 1 match. Seniors Lisa Shih and Jessica Broadfoot beat Jerusha Cruz and Erin Wiesener 8-0 in No. 2 doubles. Junior Ali Borowicz and freshman Brooke Bartlett beat Brandy Andrews and Breanna Stowell 8-0 in the No. 3 slot.

In singles, Becky Bernhard beat Erin Wiesener 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 match. Clare Fermin beat Shelly Injejikian 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 2 slot. Jessica Broadfoot defeated Karina Akhmedova 6-1, 6-1 in No. 3 singles. Brooke Bartlett beat Jerusha Cruz 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 4 match. Junior Heidi Kaloi beat Brandy Andrews 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 5 slot. Ali Borowicz defeated Breanna Stowell 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 6 match.

The Anteaters return to action Friday as they host Yale at 1:30 p.m. at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
