NO. 53 ANTEATERS HOST ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: The Aggies are 9-7 on the year as they enter the week. Sophia Marks is the No. 1 singles player for The No. 26 Waves are 15-4 on the season and are playing their final regular season match against UCI. No. 77 Sylvia Kosakowski and No. 74 Anamika Bhargava are the top two singles players for Pepperdine. WEEK IN REVIEW: The Anteaters went 2-0 on the road in Big West play with a 6-1 win at UC Davis and a 5-2 win at Pacific. Senior Becky Bernhard (Roseville/Oakmont HS), junior Clare Fermin (Troy HS), senior Jessica Broadfoot ( ANTEATERS RANKED 53rd: The Anteaters are ranked 53rd in the country by the ITA rankings. UCI had it's highest preseason ranking ever as they started the year off ranked 37th. The Anteaters finished the 2006-07 season ranked 35th nationally after a first round loss to ANTEATER LEADERS: Brooke Bartlett leads the team with a 12-3 record. Senior Jessica Broadfoot is second on the team with a 12-6 record. The doubles team of Borowicz and Bartlett is 5-1 on the year at the No. 3 position to lead the team. SENIOR Becky Bernhard IN THE RECORD BOOKS: Senior Becky Bernhard was ranked as high as No. 81 in the Fila/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings in 2007. Bernhard was named Big West Player of the Week last week and has won the honor a total of 10 times in her career, more than any women's tennis player in Big West history and more than any athlete at UCI in Big West sports. Bernhard has currently won seven straight singles matches. |
