No. 8 Anteaters Host Cal State Northridge; at Hawaii
'Eaters host CSUN in final home match Wednesday

NO. 8 ANTEATERS HOST CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE; AT HAWAII: The No. 8 UC Irvine women's water polo team (12-7, 3-4) will host No. 15 Cal State Northridge Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in their final home match of the season at Anteater Aquatics Complex. The team will then head to Hawaii to face the No. 4 Rainbow Wahine Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the Duke Kahanamoko Aqautic Complex. Both contests are Mountain Pacific Sports Federation matches.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: The No. 15 Matadors are 9-12 overall and 1-5 in MPSF play. Allison Brookes is CSUN's leading scorer.
The No. 4 Rainbow Wahine are 13-5 overall and 6-2 in MPSF play. Kelly Mason is the leading scorer for Hawaii.
WEEK IN REVIEW: The `Eaters beat Pomona-Pitzer 14-3 in their lone match last week. Junior Gianna Rossi (Fresno/Central HS) and sophomore Kat Plummer each scored three goals to lead the team.
UCI RANKED 8TH IN NATION: The Anteaters are ranked 8th in the country in the National Collegiate Water Polo poll. UCI ended 2007 ranked 10th nationally. The team was ranked as high as No. 4 last season which is the highest the Anteaters have been ranked in school history.
ANTEATER LEADERS: Senior Jessica Lewis leads the team with 27 goals on the year. Junior Gianna Rossi is second with 24 goals on the year. Kat Plummer is third with 21 goals. Junior Sarah Frost (Santa Barbara HS) is fourth with 20 goals this season. Senior keeper Lauren Machanis has 150 saves this season to lead the team.
ANTEATERS IN THE RECORD BOOK: Junior Gianna Rossi is fourth all-time at UCI with 120 goals. Senior Jessica Lewis is fifth with 110 goals. Junior Julia Fancher is seventh all-time with 83 goals. Senior keeper Lauren Machanis holds the UCI all-time record with 849 career saves.
