Junior Travis Jepson Brings Home Big West Athlete of the Week Award

IRVINE, Calif. - Junior swimmer Travis Jepson swam two season-best marks to help guide the Gauchos to a win over Pacific. The Campbell, Calif., native won the 200 breast with a time of 2:03.98 and placed second in the 100 breast with 58.31 mark. He also picked up two third-place finishes in the UC Davis dual meet, lifting UC Santa Barbara to a 136-125 victory over the Aggies. Once again competing in the 100 and 200 breast, he recorded times of 58.92 and 2:08.69. Jepson won the last athlete of the week honor of the season.

The next time to catch Jepson and the other members of the Gaucho swimming teams will be Feb. 20 when the Big West Swimming and Diving Championships kicks off.The four-day event will be held at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, Calif. Qualifying rounds begin at 11:00 a.m. and the finals are slated for a 6:00 p.m. start. Leading up to the championship, a complete schedule of events can be found at www.bigwest.org.
