The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team concluded their road trip this Sunday afternoon, with a 7-0 loss against host Arizona State, at the Whiteman Tennis Center. With the defeat the Gauchos finish their desert tour with a 1-2 record, and fall to 4-4 overall on the season.
No. 13 Arizona State began the day sweeping the doubles point against UC Santa Barbara. The Sun Devils took the early lead when Kelcy McKenna and Micaela Hein shutout senior Brittany Kausen and sophomore Tova Hausman, 8-0 at the No. 3 doubles spot. Arizona State sealed the doubles point with sister combo Nadia Abdala and Laila Abdala defeating seniors Marta Simic and Charlotte Scatliffe, 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.
The Gauchos failed to produce a winner in singles action, with the Sun Devils taking all six matches. The lone three set match produced in singles play was at No. 2, with McKenna taking care of Damion 3-6, 6-0, 6-1. Arizona captured the victory at the No. 6 singles slot, as Jessica Leitch beat Kausen 6-2, 6-0.
The Gauchos will be in action this Tuesday at home, as they square off against the Panthers of Georgia State. First serve at the Robertson Gymnasium Tennis Courts is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (PT).
