Camden, S.C. - USC Upstate standout golfers Baxter Culler and Josh Gallman continued to roll through the competition at the 57th Carolinas Four-Ball Championship Friday, winning its first round match play match to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament at the Camden Country Club.

Culler, a junior from Hartsville, S.C., and Gallman, a sophomore from Gaffney, S.C., entered the match play portion of the tournament by finishing second with an 11-under-par score over the first two rounds of stroke play. The duo began the match play portion of the championship facing Steve Peterson and Chris Smith in the round of 32. Culler and Gallman dominated the pairing, winning 8 & 6 to move into the round of 16.

In the round of 16, Culler and Gallman had a tougher time with the competition, but claimed a strong 4 & 2 win over John Fritz and Dan Hendrickson to move into the quarterfinals of the tournament. The Upstate teammates will face Bubba Judy and Scott Harvey for a spot in the semifinals.

Culler won two individual titles, including the Peach Belt Conference individual championship, in 2006-07. He was an All-America selection en route to leading Upstate to a second-place finish in the 2007 NCAA Division II National Championships and a final No. 2 national ranking. Gallman flourished this season, winning four individual tournament titles in 12 tournaments. He helped Upstate win two team championships and was an A-Sun First Team All-Conference selection.
