Upstate Wraps Up Florida Trip With Monday Game At Stetson

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The USC Upstate basketball team will wrap up its swing in Florida on Monday at 7 p.m. when it travels to Stetson for an Atlantic Sun Conference match.

The Spartans are making a four-hour trip to from Florida's West coast where they played Florida Gulf Coast on Monday and will play Monday's game just a half-hour from the East coast.

Upstate, at 4-19 and 0-10 in the A-Sun, is looking to snap a 13-game winless stretch. The team is getting solid offensive support from sophomore Courtney Hawkins, who is second in the conference in scoring at 14.7 points per game, and junior Ebony Johnson, who has posted back-to-back 10-rebound games.

Stetson, who is 4-19 overall and 2-8 in the Atlantic Sun Conference, enters the Monday's game looking for its first win in four games after taking a 73-62 loss at the hands of ETSU on Saturday.

Led by Sharnesha Smith, who averages 9.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, the Hatters are last in the conference, averaging 53.4 points per game. Freshman Tierra Brown averages 8.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game and Kellie Olson has hit 22 3-pointers this season.

This is the first meeting between the two schools.

• This is the second of three straight `Think Pink' games for the Spartans, who will host their Think Pink game on Saturday against Belmont.
• The Spartans are 6-6 all-time on Feb. 11, last falling to North Georgia, 92-75, in 2006.
• Sophomore Courtney Hawkins has scored in double figures in 17 of 23 games this year and has posted 20 or more five times.

• Junior Cherale Powell is averaging 6.2 points and 3.6 rebounds during A-Sun league play.
• Freshman Kimberly Pitman is second on the team with seven blocked shots and is also second in conference games in rebounding (4.6).
• Junior Ebony Johnson is the only player in the country 5-7 or shorter that is averaging 7.0 rebounds per game.
