The USC Upstate women's tennis team saw its first NCAA Division I dual match spoiled on Thursday night, falling to Southern Conference foe Davidson, 7-0, in non-conference action at the Knobloch Indoor Tennis Center. The Spartans (0-1) fell in all nine matches during the evening match, with the doubles team of junior Anna Novo (Caracas, Venezuela/El Angel) and freshman Emilia Milovanovic (Paris, France/CNED) narrowly losing to the No. 1 doubles pair of Kelsey Linville and Virginia Berry of Davidson, 9-7. In singles, senior Susana Hernandez (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Americano) almost took the first set against Berry before falling, 7-5, and dropping the second set, 6-2. The Spartans will look to rebound with their DI dual meet era home opener at the USC Upstate Complex, as they host North Carolina A&T on Friday at 3 p.m. Results SINGLES |
