Final Stats

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Junior Anna Novo (Caracas, Venezuela/El Angel) became the sixth player in school history to reach 90 combined wins (singles and doubles) to highlight the USC Upstate women's tennis team's 7-0 win over Presbyterian at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon.

Novo, who reached the 90-win mark with her 8-3 doubles win with partner freshman Emilia Milovanovic (Paris, France/CNED) over Abby Diminich and Virginia Waldron, also posted her 51st career singles win in the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Brittany Lanford to move into a tie for third in school history in singles wins with Heather Weare (1990-94). Only current teammates, seniors Diana Martinez (Medellin, Colombia/Nuestra Senora del Rosario) (63 wins) and Susana Hernandez (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Americano) (53 wins), have more singles wins, with Hernandez adding a win on Friday.

The Spartans swept doubles behind Novo and Milovanovic, with Hernandez and junior Daniela Lovera (Caracas, Venezuela/Santa Rosa Lima) posting an 8-2 win over Kari Fuller and Lanford at No. 2 and Martinez and junior Maria Herrera (Buenos Aires, Argentina) posting an 8-2 win over Brooke Toluba and Megan Davis at No. 3.

Junior Vivian Neuenschwander (Arequipa, Peru/Max-Uhle) posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles over Casey Bookout and Lovera added a 6-0, 6-0 win over Waldron at No. 4 singles to start the singles portion. Herrera followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Fuller at No. 5 singles and Milovanovic posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Davis at No. 3. Hernandez closed the match with a super tie-break win over Diminich, 6-4, 3-6, 10-5.

Upstate will next hit the court on Sunday, Feb. 24 when Georgia Southern visits the USC Upstate Tennis Complex at 11 a.m.
