SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Junior Daniela Lovera (Caracas, Venezuela/Santa Rosa Lima) paced the USC Upstate women's tennis team to a 6-1 win over Kennesaw State in Atlantic Sun Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex, as she posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles to become the 12th player in school history to reach 30 career singles wins. The win is the Spartans' seventh in a row and improved their record to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the A-Sun. The Owls are now 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the A-Sun. The Spartans swept the doubles matches with all three posting 8-2 wins, as junior Anna Novo (Caracas, Venezuela/El Angel) and freshman Emilia Milovanovic (Paris, France/CNED) downing Mecedes Cobos and Paula Takara at No. 1 doubles, senior Susana Hernandez (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Americano) and Lovera defeating Agatha Palider and Ayano Tanaka at No. 2 and senior Diana Martinez (Medellin, Colombia/Nuestra Senora del Rosario) and junior Maria Herrera (Buenos Aires, Argentina) bead Lindsay Dillon and Karen Ammann. Hernandez' doubles win was the 110th in her career (54 singles, 56 doubles), making her just the second player in the women's program's history to reach the mark, where she joins Martinez, who has 122 combined wins. Lovera paced the Spartans with her double-bagel of Palider at No. 3 and junior Vivian Neuenschwander (Arequipa, Peru/Max-Uhle) posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Allison Baulis at No. 6. Novo followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Cobos at No. 1 and Martinez posted a 6-1, 6-4 win over Ammann at No. 4. The Spartans fell in a close match at No. 2 singles, but Herrera closed the match with a three-set win over Takara, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
