Final Stats

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Junior Anna Novo (Caracas, Venezuela/El-Angel) won her 100th career combined match (singles and doubles) with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Mariana Pagan at No. 1 singles to pace the USC Upstate women's tennis team to a 7-0 win over Austin Peay in non-conference action at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Novo is the fastest player to ever reach 100 career wins, as she now has a 55-17 in singles play and a 45-28 record in doubles. She joins current teammates, seniors Diana Martinez (Medellin, Colombia/Nuestra Senora del Rosario) (125 combined wins) and Susana Hernandez (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Americano) (114 combined wins) in the club.

The Spartans, who have won eight of their last nine matches, improve to 8-2 overall while Austin Peay falls to 0-7.

Novo and freshman partner Emilia Milovanovic (Paris, France/CNED) posted an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Mariana Pagan and Morgan Klieber. Hernandez and junior Daniela Lovera (Caracas, Venezuela/Santa Rosa Lima) posted an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles against Michelle Liew and Laura Gonzalez and Martinez and junior Maria Herrera (Buenos Aires, Argentina) posted an 8-1 win over Alexandria Pyle and Mary Beth Lefler at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, the Spartans cruised as well, with Martinez posting a double-bagel of Gonzalez, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles, to help her win her 125th career combined match. Junior Vivian Neuenschwander (Arequipa, Peru/Max-Uhle) added a 6-0, 6-0 double-bagel of Lefler. Novo added her win and Lovera added a 6-1, 6-2 win over Klieber at No. 3. Herrera added a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles and Hernandez wrapped up the match with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Liew at No. 2 singles.

Upstate will get back on the courts on Friday when they travel to Lipscomb in Nashville, Tenn. for a 3 p.m. Atlantic Sun Conference match.
